Police release name of 30-year-old victim

Amanda Lyons, 30, of Elizabethtown died Sunday after she reportedly lost control of her vehicle on St. John Road which collided with another vehicle, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department said.

The department responded at 5:45 p.m. to a collision in the 3000 block of St. John Road in Cecilia, department spokesman Greg Lowe said.

James M. Waldrip of Elizabethtown said he was southbound on St. John Road in his Chevrolet pickup truck when he saw a northbound Honda appear to lose control, Lowe said.

Waldrip said he tried to avoid hitting the Honda, but struck the front and passenger side of the car, Lowe said. Both vehicles came to rest on the east side of the road.

Waldrip was not injured.

Lyons' name was withheld until Monday afternoon to ensure proper notification of her family.

No charges have been filed. An investigation is ongoing.

The Hardin County Coroner’s Office, Ky. 86 Fire and Rescue Department, Elizabethtown Fire Department and Hardin County EMS also responded.
