Vine Grove Mayor Blake Proffitt didn’t expect to be working on the city’s budget, due by last June, in March.
Audit updates required city officials to use the city’s fourth-class status to pass a budget identical to that of the previous year with amendments to be made when updates were completed.
The updates were finished later than expected. Their completion was announced Monday during the city council meeting.
The late finish wasn’t for lack of trying.
