SHEPHERDSVILLE – A nap provided precious time for a Shepherdsville woman and her 3-year-old son Wednesday.
Eric Boyd, 39, of Vine Grove is in jail after police said he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Shepherdsville home Tuesday evening, sexually assaulting her and holding her and her son in the home against their will.
According to Shepherdsville police, Boyd fell asleep in the home after the assault.
Boyd is facing charges of first-degree rape, sodomy and burglary, as well as kidnapping and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Sgt. Ken Bernardi of the Shepherdsville police.
The victim’s names were not released.
Bernardi said the victim was able to send a text message seeking help to family and friends who contacted police.
According to a statement by Shepherdsville police, “When the victim saw officer Jason Rives police car come into view, she fled the home with her 3-year-old son and alerted Rives to the suspect’s location inside.”
Boyd was found asleep in a bedroom. He was arrested and taken to the Bullitt County Detention Center.
Bernardi said the juvenile suffered no injuries.
