A Vine Grove man died late Monday afternoon in a four-car crash in Muldraugh.

David D. Pandy III, 35, of Vine Grove, died at the scene when the 1996 black Honda Civic he was driving crossed the center line for unknown reasons, police say, and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Vonda J. Carnegie head-on at a slight angle. It then collided in the southbound lane with a vehicle driven by Karen W. Vutoro, 52, of Brandenburg, before going back into the southbound lane and hitting a vehicle driven by Bobby D. Alvey, 41, of Louisville, according to a Kentucky State Police news release Monday night.

Carnegie and Vutoro were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Meade County EMS and treated and released with minor injuries. No age or hometown were available on Carnegie in the news release.

Alvey was uninjured in the crash, according to the news release.

The collision happened on Dixie Highway near Brandenburg Station Road.

Police say it appeared all involved were wearing seat belts. Toxicology and post-mortem examination results are pending. Dixie Highway was closed for more than three hours after the accident which happened around 3:45 p.m.

KSP reconstructionist Trooper. Brad Riley is investigating the collision. KSP was assisted by other Post 4 troopers, the Muldraugh police, West Point police, Muldraugh Fire Department, Meade County EMS and the Meade County Sheriff's Department.
