A Vine Grove man is in custody after leading Kentucky State Police on a 6-mile pursuit.

Martin K. Baldwin, 28, of the 9000 block of Rineyville Road, was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment; first-degree fleeing or evading police, motor vehicle; reckless driving; speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit, first-degree promoting contraband; tampering with physical evidence; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense; and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.

A police citation said Baldwin began the pursuit Thursday near the intersection of St. John Road and Ky. 1375 and reached speeds of 85 mph. Baldwin crossed the center line to pass multiple vehicles in a no-pass zone and forced a vehicle off the road to avoid a collision.

After arrest, a deputy jailer found methadone and Xanax hidden in Baldwin’s socks, shoes and long johns, the citation said.

Baldwin is being held at Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond. His next court appearance is 9 a.m. April 2.
