By KELLY RICHARDSON firstname.lastname@example.org VINE GROVE — The Vine Grove Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Spring Fling on Saturday, a celebration that, while perhaps too late to honor the arrival of spring, is definitely on time to finally recognize some consistent spring-like weather. The Vine Grove Spring Fling is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Optimist Park. The event will feature a yard sale, a flea market and crafts booths, set up in different areas of the park for everyone to peruse, said Donna Broadway, the executive director of the Vine Grove Chamber of Commerce. “Everybody kind of likes to look through everything,” she said. This is the third year for the event, Broadway said. There will be about 100 booths set up, along with music by the band Main Street, formerly Keene and Company. Broadway said the booths have become such a hit that they’re being included in other city events as well. She said the current recession should bring a lot of people out looking for good deals. There will of course be food to be had as well. Treats such as funnel cake and ice cream will be available, and bratwurst and barbecue dinners can be purchased for $5, Broadway said. Broadway said guests who come from out of town have come to expect an entertaining festival in the community. And for the Vine Grove community, they simply enjoy gathering at events. “They just like to get together,” Broadway said. If the event is delayed by rain in the morning, it will last beyond 3 p.m., she said. Kelly Richardson can be reached at (270) 505-1747.
