Fans of affordable fashion can shop for a cause at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Hosparus Thrift Shoppe in Elizabethtown.
The shop is hosting a fashion runway show to help raise money for Hosparus. The event begins with light refreshments and live music by local band Ocean City at 5:30 and continues with the show at 6 p.m.
Volunteers of Hosparus Thrift Shoppe and their friends and family members will model clothes from the store.
Moira Taylor, store manager, said the models choose what they want to wear in the show. The models are from all age groups and include men and women.
“The fashion show will really show the wide variety of styles in the shop,” Taylor said.
Hosparus, a nonprofit hospice organization, will use the money raised to help continue providing care to patients, for their pediatrics program Kourageous Kids and for bereavement programs.
This summer marks the fourth year the store in Helmwood Plaza has hosted a fashion show fundraiser.
“They will learn more about Hosparus, the thrift shop and the volunteer program,” Taylor said. “Plus, they will get an idea on what they can get here and bring to us.”
Following the fashion show, Taylor said shoppers have the chance to participate in an exclusive, storewide sale.
Taylor said she has heard people mention how they don’t get to the store in time before it closes after they leave work. With this special shopping event, she said, those people will be able to visit the store.
“This is their chance to shop after hours,” Taylor said.
