Coming off last year’s highly successful Walk for Life, Clarity Solutions for Women again hosts its annual event Sept. 21 with hopes of another big financial windfall.

Last year’s Walk for Life raised $45,000 for the Christian-based organization that provides a pressure-free environment for women facing unexpected pregnancy, offering them information and support as they consider raising the child or adoption.

Peggy Adams, director of development for Clarity and coordinator of the walk, said the goal last year was $35,000, so surpassing that goal in a big way “was pretty cool,” she said.

“Our goal this year is $40,000 and we hope to exceed that,” Adams said.

The event raises money for the organization and brings awareness to its ministry, Adams said. Clarity Solutions for Women opened in 2001.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the back parking lot of Elizabethtown Christian Academy on West Poplar Street.

Adams said last year about 350 people attended the walk with 193 walking and collecting pledges. She is hoping 200 or more walk and seek pledges this year.

“Clarity works to help both moms and babies thrive during and after an unwanted or unexpected pregnancy by providing truthful medical information, material resources and counseling based on the biblical principles,” Adams said in an email. “Thus, the individuals, churches, businesses who support Clarity are helping to strengthen the basic building block of our community — the family.”

The 2-mile walk is one of two major fundraisers for the organization. The other is an April banquet.

Adams said Clarity averages more than 100 client visits per month. Clients are encouraged to attend classes and mentoring/counseling sessions throughout their pregnancy and the first year of their baby’s life.

Among the pre-walk activities are free face painting and balloons. A reception after the walk includes muffins, cookies, fruit and beverages.

Clarity also will be open for an informal tour.
