At the Aug. 20 Board of Commissioners meeting, Hardin County Water District No. 1 said farewell to Commissioner Steve Walton.

Walton notified Judge-Executive Harry Berry that he no longer could serve on the Board because of an upcoming relocation out of state. Walton has been on the district board since September, 2008 and most recently has served as the secretary. The board passed a resolution at the meeting recognizing Walton’s service, and also presented him a special plaque as an Award of Appreciation. The resolution notes that during his service, district net assets increased by 70 percent and total revenues increased by 57 percent. Many major construction projects also were completed during his service including the re-construction of the Pirtle Spring Water Treatment Plant and securing a new back-up water supply from the Louisville Water Company.

Judge Harry Berry has appointed Jim Shelton to the Hardin County Board of Commissioners with a term that began Sept. 1. Shelton brings to the Board his extensive background in construction and contracting.
