SYMPATHY. Sympathy to the families of Betty Horn, Louie Hodge, Maurice Schimmels, Lenn Lee Nelson, Carlie Jenkins, Gary Bennett, Kenny Pike and Thelma Skaggs.

SCHOOLS. Hardin County Schools will be dismissed Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

CHURCH NEWS. On Jan. 16 at 6 p.m., a community service will be held at Unity Baptist Church. Brother Elbert Peters will speak.

OUT AND ABOUT. Conner, Logan and Sydney Thompson spent last weekend with their grandparents, Danny and Linda Thompson in Edmonson County.

Ervin and Violet Stith and Donnie and Judy Stith were supper guests last Saturday night of C.T. and Shirley Goodman.

GET-WELL WISHES. Get-well wishes to David Knight, Darryl Withers, Addison Blair and all others who are ill.

BENEFIT AUCTION. A reminder that a benefit auction will be held Jan. 15 at Upton Community Center to raise money for medical bills for David L. Knight, who has suffered a series of strokes. Food and entertainment begins at 5 p.m. and the auction begins at 7 p.m. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. Kennedy Stith had a birthday party last Sunday at her home to celebrate her 5th birthday. The party was given by her parents, Greg and Christy, and her brother, Devin. Several family members attended, including Ervin and Violet Stith and some of their family.

BACK HOME. G.A. Davis has returned after a two week vacation in Colorado. While there, he vacationed with his daughter and family, Jay and Kandy Swanson and Chance of California. He also spent time with Jay’s family who resides in Colorado.
