White Mills

This past week has been full of so many blessings. First of all, I have a new baby in my daycare and he is adorable. He is five months old and has the most incredible big blue eyes you have ever seen. He is such a happy baby and loves to watch the two year old I babysit as he plays. I don’t put names in the paper of the babies, but parents, you know who you are and I just love taking care of your little ones. Secondly, my sister was released from the hospital and is doing much better. She celebrated her 40th birthday this past Sunday. Thanks for praying for her. And last but certainly not least, another child at our church asked Jesus to come into his heart this week. Wow. It just doesn’t get much better than this.

ANNIVERSARIES. Happy anniversary to Tom and Gail McCoy. Tom is a member of our church and a Sunday school teacher for the adult class. They will celebrate their 6th anniversary on Jan. 21. May you be blessed with many more years together.

BIRTHDAYS. Happy birthday to Megan Elmore-Morgan on Jan. 21, Stephanie Underhill on Jan. 22, Marty Roberts and Mason Douglas on Jan. 24 and Phillip Kerr on Jan. 26. Speaking of birthdays, Martha Mullins celebrated her 80th birthday on Jan. 14 at Golden Corral. She called and asked me to thank everyone for coming to her party, and for all of the cards, gifts and phone calls she received. So many people turned out for her party there wasn’t room for all of them in the room at Golden Corral. She was so excited to have so many people there to celebrate with her.

CHURCH NEWS. White Mills Baptist Church will have its annual talent show at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27. Many people will perform their different talents and showing off the gifts God has given them. Before the talent show, WMBC will have a pizza cookoff. Make your favorite pizza recipe and bring it over at 5:30 p.m. Awards for the best tasting pizza will be awarded during the talent show. Come and join us for a night of fun and fellowship.

The Good News Club is up and going again after the Christmas break at Lakewood Elementary School. All children from kindergarten through the fifth grade are invited to attend. We meet every Thursday right after school in room 201. Parents must send a permission slip each week to school so their child can stay. This is an awesome program that teaches children Bible stories and applies them to life today. We sing songs, play games and learn memory verses from the Bible. If you have any questions, you can contact me at the number listed below.

GET-WELL WISHES. Please keep the following people in your thoughts and prayers, Dewayne Blanton as he continues to recover from back surgery, Hubert Lee, Sydney Dover, Missy Disselcamp, Velma Sarver, Calvin Sarver, Hillery Turner and Hayward Young.

That’s all I have for this week. Look for a really great person of interest in next week’s column. I have to do some more research and will have it ready for next week.
