White Mills

Terri Spencer, 862-4604

Well, my son Joshua is in Italy. I took him to the airport on Monday morning and did my best not to cry when I said good-bye. Many thanks to my friend, Kari Ash, for riding up there with me and keeping me company on the way home. Joshua is having a good time, but like most 15-year-old boys, he seems to be most interested in the food. The only two pictures he has posted on Facebook are both of meals he was eating. No pictures of statues or markets or 1,000-year-old buildings, just his meals. He is his father’s son. He will be home on Monday night. I can’t wait to embarrass him when he gets off the plane by hugging him to pieces.

ANNIVERSARIES. Happy anniversary to Clint and Tammy Linder on March 10; Dwight and Beverly Richardson on March 13; and Bobby and Marsha Singer on March 14. Congratulations to all of you.

BIRTHDAYS. Happy birthday to Sonnie Reeves on March 11; Tori Hoffman on March 12; Josh Sheetz on March 13; and Spencer Hay on March 14. I hope you all have absolutely wonderful birthdays.

COMMUNITY NEWS. Easter quickly is approaching and one of the White Mills traditions is for the churches to come together to celebrate Easter sunrise service. This year, sunrise service is at 7 p.m. Easter morning at First Baptist Church of Eastview. Everyone in the area is invited to attend.

I have also been asked to remind you that if you live in the White Mills community and have not paid your Civic League dues, that you would please do so. These funds go to help keep our community the special place it is.

CHURCH NEWS. Thirteen of us from White Mills Baptist Church went to the Creative Ministries Festival last weekend at Cedarmore Campgrounds. Several in our group took a class called human drama. In this performance, there are no props. You use people to form things you need for the drama. Our group, led by Marsha Singer, did such a great job they were asked to perform what they learned at the closing ceremony. They were awesome. Bella Singer, Charmayne Mann, Ashlee Skees, Ethan Bryant and Brooklynne Bryant also performed an interpretive movement to the song “Shackles” in the opening ceremony. We all learned more creative ways to tell others about Jesus.

In our continuing celebration of the 175th anniversary of White Mills Baptist Church, we will be wearing our hats, bowties and gloves to church March 17. Come and join us for fun and worship.

GET-WELL WISHES. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those in our community who are having health problems. They are Leila Brown, Lois Gray, Sydney Dover, Missy Disselcamp, Noreida Reesor, Tiffany Rice Spratt, Calvin and Velma Sarver, Brendan Weir, Michael Jegier, Darrell Jones, Delbert Logsdon, Delbert Love, Janice Cook, Teresa Mullins and Sharon Quinn.

SYMPATHY. Our sympathy goes out to the family of Delores Pence. Delores passed away this week and will be missed greatly by her friends and family. Sympathy also goes out to the family Bessie Mae Raymer Cronin, who also passed away this week. Bessie was the only remaining aunt of Dwight Raymer. She was 101.
