Wilson & Muir Bank & Trust Co. customers as well as others who do not have accounts with the bank have been receiving automated voice messages on their mobile phones during the past 24 hours supposedly from Wilson & Muir Bank.
The voice message advises that their Visa Check card has been compromised and has been deactivated. The message then requests card and PIN information. This is a phishing scam and is not legitimate, according to bank officials.
Bank officials say customers and non-customers should not reply or enter any information and immediately hang up. Officials have determined that this is not a security breach to account holder information, but most likely a compromise of a cellular phone provider’s data base.
Bank officials said their bank card servicers or any of their Internet Banking providers will ever send a voicemail or email requesting password information. If for some reason you replied or entered any card information, please immediately call (502) 348-5996 and ask for the New Accounts department.
