Hardin County sits on the western edge of a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service because of an approaching snowstorm.
The heaviest snowfall of the season could drop 1 to 4 inches locally, the weather service said. More dramatic totals are expected across the Midwest today and move east but forecasters see the U.S. 31E corridor as the alert line.
Rain is expected much of today with snow ushered in by cooler temperatures tonight. Some bands of moderate to heavy snow could develop, the NWS advisory said, as accumulation continues overnight into Wednesday morning.
The advisory, which also includes LaRue, Nelson, Meade, Breckinridge and counties to the east, is scheduled to continue through 1 p.m. Wednesday.
