The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown participated in the “Shop and Share” program Feb. 5 at both of the Kroger locations in Elizabethtown. “Shop & Share” began three years ago as a project from First Lady Brashear’s office. The Kentucky Federated Women’s Club was asked to volunteer at the Kroger stores in their area and ask for specific items needed for the Domestic Violence Centers lo-cated in Kentucky.
With SpringHaven Domestic Violence Shelter in Elizabethtown, members collected items from shoppers that chose from the list of the center’s needs and Woman’s Club members delivered the supplies directly to the shelter.
The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown had 10 club members volunteer and some husbands assisted with the project. Members included Rosemary Deaton and her husband, Charlie, Bobbie Dille and  her husband, George, Betty Sue French and her husband, Larry, Ann Gardner, Ruth Hayden, Cora Ellen McKinley/Hall, Martha Mengel, Joan Noel, Rose Carter and Phyllis Shumate.
The Kroger customers were generous at both stores and the total of items donated was nearly $3,000.
