Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown members attend conference

The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown attended the Fourth District Conference in Shepherdsville on Sept. 21. The Bullitt County Woman’s Club was the host club. This is the annual arts and crafts contest of the clubs in the Fourth District. There were 25 entries from the club with seven first-place winners who will advance to the April 2014 GFWC Kentucky Convention at the Brown Hotel in Louisville

First-place winners were Diane McCamish – oil painting, Diane McCamish – water color, Nora Sweat – ceramics, Betty Sue French – scrapbook, Gwen Yarbrough – jewelry, Gail Hinton – wearable art and Barbara Mills – needlepoint.

Second-place winners were Gwen Yarbrough – watercolor, Marie Deaton – scrapbook, Betty Jackson – needlepoint, Nora Sweat – embroidery, Maritza Johnson – photo natural history, Bobbie Dille – photo scenic and Nora Sweat – photo volunteers in action.

Third place winner was Lara Welp – photo natural history. Others participating were Phyllis Brandenburg – crochet and Marjorie Wilkins – crochet.
