Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown members gather for May meeting

The General Federation of Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown met May 3 at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown. Betty Sue French, president, called the meeting to order. A short business meeting was held.


A moment of silent prayer was held for Claudia Thurman, a Woman’s Club member who recently succumbed to cancer.

Kathy DeVeau presented the devotional per DVD in her absence.

Diane Willis, member of Elizabethtown club and district governor, installed the 2013-14 officers, Betty Sue French, president; Cora Ellen McKinley, first vice president; Bobbie Dille; Gail Hinton, recording secretary; Gloria Whitford, corresponding secretary; Judy Meyer, treasurer; Jean Davis, parliamentarian; and Regina Lancaster, auditor. Willis was recognized as being named state outstanding district governor. Members winning awards at the recent state convention were presented certificates.

Michelle Jordan of Jordan’s Greenhouses near Sonora presented the program on planting flowers in unusual, repurposed containers.

Following the business meeting and program, a catered lunch was served. This was the final meeting for the 2012-13 year and the group will reconvene its meetings in September.

Anyone interested in belonging to the Woman’s Club is welcome to attend the September meeting at 10 a.m. the first Friday of September at the Brown-Pusey House.
