Saturday, Aug. 1

  • Back-to-school community event, 2-6 p.m., Radcliff City Park, hosted by The Lord’s Supper Soup Kitchen. Barbecue, kids’ games, free haircuts and vouchers for hairstyles. Free backpacks with school supplies, free clothing and tennis shoes. Gospel and Christian concert, guest speaker. Every adult must have children/dependants present to receive back to school supplies.   • Elijah! God’s Faithful Prophet Children’s Musi­cal, 2:30 p.m., Immanuel Baptist Church, 800 Rhodes Drive, E’town. All ages will enjoy this scripture-based play.   • Purity Retreat and Banquet, Thursday, Camp Nikao, 7566 Shepherds­ville Road, Elizabethtown. Conducted by M.O.D. Squad teen outreach ministry. Cost is donation of three canned goods. Open to middle school, high school and young adults ages 18-24. Overnight camp is limited. Only the first 300 campers are guaranteed sleeping quarters on site.   • Homecoming, 10 a.m.-noon, Aug. 30, at Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church, 4695 Hardinsburg Road, Cecilia. Worship 10 a.m. at the church. Special guests, singing and testimonies.   • Guest choir, 6 p.m. Aug. 30, New Horizon Baptist Fellowship, 864 W. Rhudes Creek Road, Glendale. Wayside Christian Mission Choir from Louisville will sing.
