YOUTH BASEBALL: Clay Games tosses no-hitter for EABC 10s (07/03)

Clay Games had a big night at the plate and on the mound Tuesday in the Cal Ripken District 7 Tournament at Meade-Olin Park.

Games threw a no-hitter and also drove in four runs as the Elizabethtown Area Baseball Commission 10-year-old Red All-Stars rolled to a 12-1 win in five innings over Meade County.

Games singled, tripled and scored a run, while Ty Been singled, drove in three runs and scored once. Eli Brown singled, doubled, scored three runs and drove in one and Ryan Pyles added two singles and two runs.

Caleb Adams doubled and scored for EABC Red, which will face EABC Blue or LaRue County at 6 tonight.


EABC 6, MEADE COUNTY 0. Skylar Lucas struck out three and scattered four hits to lead EABC past Meade County at Brandenburg’s Ramsey Field.

Austin Heideman hit a three-run homer in EABC’s five-run first inning. Wes Irwin tacked on a solo homer in the second.

MEADE COUNTY 10, BRECKINRIDGE COUNTY 1. Carson Crump’s three-run homer helped power Meade County past Breckinridge County.

Garrett Allen struck out four while allowing two hits and two walks in six innings.

Meade County and Breckinridge County play again at 6 tonight. The winner of that game will face EABC at 8 for the title.


EABC 11, LARUE COUNTY 1 (5 INNINGS). Spencer Brandenburg and Cameron Smith combined for four singles and two RBIs as EABC rolled past LaRue County at LaRue County Park in Hodgenville.

LaSteven Cleaver had three singles and two RBIs, while Nolan Francis singled, doubled and drove in a run. Trace Barnes singled and had four RBIs.

Cleaver struck out two and gave up one hit in three innings to earn the win. Brandenburg struck out two and gave up two hits in three innings of relief.

Chase Baker and Wyatt Pearman each had a single for LaRue County.

EABC will face Meade County at 7 tonight.


LARUE COUNTY 5, EABC BLUE 0. Evan Morris and Bryson Arnette combined for 10 strikeouts to lead LaRue County past EABC at Meade-Olin Park.

Layne Gribbins had two singles, while Morris, Arnette, Derek Heath and Daniel Snodgrass each singled.

LaRue County will play EABC Red or Meade County at 6 tonight.


MEADE COUNTY 20, EABC 8. Ethan Webster had four singles and three runs as Meade County cruised to victory in Game 1 of the best-of-three series at University Drive Park in Elizabethtown.

Trace Thomas had four singles, a double and two runs, while Mason Stull had two doubles, a triple and three runs. Ryan Hall had a double, triple and three runs.

Hayden Ash had two singles and two runs for EABC. Conner Portlo added a single, double and a run, while Todd Allen tripled and scored.

Game 2 is at 7 tonight.


EABC BLUE 26, EABC RED 4 (4 INNINGS). EABC Blue scored seven runs in each of the first three innings, rolling past EABC Red at University Drive Park.

Zakery Spurrier went 4-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs for EABC Blue, while Camden Cox had four singles and three RBIs. Nolan Maggard added two singles, three RBIs and four runs.

Tucker Walters also had four hits for EABC Blue, which finished with 31.

EABC Red plays LaRue County at 6 and EABC Blue faces Meade County at 8 tonight.
