With their team looking a little sluggish, Dawson Swift and Tyler Wood gave the Elizabethtown Area Baseball Commission 12-year-old All-Stars a big boost Monday night in the Cal Ripken District Tournament.
Swift and Wood hit back-to-back homers in the third inning, helping EABC turn a two-run lead into a six-run advantage en route to a 12-2 win in five innings over Breckinridge County at Ramsey Field in Brandenburg.
Swift hit a three-run homer and Wood followed with his first of two in the game. Swift also singled and drove in four runs, while Wood added a two-run homer and single.
“They both hit the ball well,” EABC coach Kevin Swift said. “It gave the team a big lift. We came out hot and then got a little flat, but that gave us a huge lift.”
Coleman Clark took care of things on the mound, striking out three and allowing four hits and no earned runs in a complete-game effort.
EABC will face Meade County at 6 tonight.
