The News-Enterprise ELIZABETHTOWN — The E-town Youth Singles Tournament has grown for Round 2. After 44 players competed in last year’s inaugural event, 46 players have registered to compete in the eight-division, single-elimination tournament Saturday at the University Drive Park Tennis Courts. Admission is free. Eighteen players competed in last year’s tournament, including all five members of last year’s girls’ under-12 division. Matches – there will be 44 in all – start at 9 a.m. with four girls’ under-14 quarterfinals and four girls’ under-12 quarterfinals. The first final (girls’ 14) is slated for 3 p.m., while the last final (girls’ 16) is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. n Competing for the boys’ 18 title are Elizabethtown’s Kris Bergmann and Hunter Hazle and Campbellsville’s Kevin Thompson. n Competing for the girls’ 18 title are Buffalo’s Betsy Durham, Elizabethtown’s Emily DuPlessis and Campbellsville’s Abigail Thompson. n Competing for the boys’ 16 title are Buffalo’s Michael Huff, Elizabethtown’s Franco Melgar, Leitchfield’s Dustin Hayes and Evan Wooden and New Haven’s Dylan Parr. n Competing for the girls’ 16 title are Elizabethtown’s Emilee O’Brien, Allison Riney and Madison Snow, Hodgenville’s Hannah Canter and Liberty’s Brittany Price. n Competing for the boys’ 14 title are Elizabethtown’s Muneeb Abri, Bilal Ahmed, Jared Anderson, Zeeshan Bhatti, Reza Haider (last year’s 14 champion), Hodgenville’s Brent Gozzard and Liberty’s Ryan Martin. n Competing for the girls’ 14 title are Caneyville’s Rachael Woosley, Elizabethtown’s Ann Lauren Fiepke, Lexy Hazle, Samantha McKean, Jeannette Oropilla, Taylor Mudd and Mary Snow and Hodgenville’s Michelle Seymour (last year’s 14 runner-up). n Competing for the boys’ 12 title are Elizabethtown’s Hunain Abri, Griffin Davis and Hassan Haider, Glendale’s Kevin Britt and Lebanon’s Ryker Cassidy, Alex Spalding and Michael Spalding. n Competing for the girls’ 12 title are Elizabethtown’s Lauran Berger, Natalie Fiepke (last year’s 12 runner-up), Morgan Hosay, Emily Novak, Gabriella Oropilla, Mackenzie Snow, Rachael Warden and Lebanon’s Anna Stewart Burdette.
