Zonta Club presents scholarship

The Zonta Club of Elizabethtown presented the first Amelia Earhart $500 scholarship to Sharyl Higgins, a senior at John Hardin High School. Sharyl, a 17-year-old cheerleader, has been accepted into Georgetown College for the fall semester. Amelia Earhart Day is celebrated by Zonta International each year on Jan. 11, to recognize Earhart for her extraordinary achievements and uncompromising spirit. Earhart was a Zontian, a record breaking aviator, and a women’s rights advocate.
