“Lee is one of the most kind hearted, soft spoken young men I have ever met,” Rochelle Moore said of Lee Hunter, 34, of Elizabethtown.
Hunter is an IT Specialist at Brown Forman Corporation and volunteers with youth. Moore said Hunter never stops learning and gains new knowledge and certifications in technology.
“It gives me joy that kids and adults view me as a leader in this community,” Hunter said. “The fact that I know a kid may be watching or counting on me keeps me coming back each day.”
Hunter volunteers with Elizabethtown Area Youth Football and is a mentor.
“At first, I set out to be a mentor or father figure for two little boys that were in my life at the time that I first started coaching, but quickly realized that I was touching way more lives than just the two,” Hunter said.
He remembers telling a former teacher that when he became successful, he didn’t want to move away.
“I wanted to stay right here in E’town to be able to mentor to those that were coming behind me in my neighborhood,” he said.
Moore said Hunter doesn’t boast about his accomplishments.
“I expect great things from Lee as he moves forward in life and he serves as a great role model to many,” Moore said.
Hunter calls his success a “blessing from God.”
“We all have our own story, I made mistakes but through all He still put me in the position to make something of myself and that’s all I can ask for,” Hunter said. “For me it’s hard to tell someone no because I always wonder if this is the next opportunity that God has set out for me.”
