Sharon Wright at Hardin Memorial Health said Deanna Parker, 37, has made a lasting impact on the emergency department and its staff from her first day on the job.

“Her experience and fresh perspective directly impact patient and employee satisfaction numbers,” Wright said.

As a nurse and assistant vice president of emergency services at HMH, she’s launched communication and staff structure initiatives in the department.

“Deanna is a leader who knows our staff and celebrates outstanding work,” she said.

She also supports HMH’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and the regions multiple Sexual Assault Response Teams, Wright said. “She is committed to serving those most vulnerable, including sexual assault victims and patients with behavioral health challenges,” Wright said.

Parker, of Louisville, said she enjoys the relational aspect of nursing.

“We have the privilege to care for people in some of their most vulnerable moments,” Parker said. “That’s such a precious gift, and one I never want to take for granted.”

Healthcare is hard work but a blessing, she said.

“I have learned so much about the human spirit and what we are capable of, and it’s unbelievable to be a part of such an amazing team,” she said. “That’s why I don’t necessarily look at myself as super successful — I’m one piece of the puzzle and I have the honor to work alongside some amazing other pieces”

Together, she said, the team makes a piece of art, the art of caring for others.

She and her husband, Jason, have two daughters, Ryleigh and Addyson.

“At home, Deanna is a wife and mom of two young girls, and shows them what being a strong female leader is all about,” Wright said.
