Bringing out the best in youth is one of the prime goals of Optimist International and September’s program certainly put on display achieving that in at least one North Hardin High School Senior.
Optimist Leslie Hall, coordinator for youth services at North Hardin introduced Gabe Stalcup, the senior representative serving on the Youth Services Center Advisory Council.
Stalcup has served on the council each year of his career and has accomplished much. He is one of the original members of the Green Dot Student Committee, which is a personal violence presentation program North Hardin. In fact, he designed the T-shirts for the program. He was selected and attended the Empower Kentucky Youth Leadership Conference this past summer as North Hardin’s representative. It became evident to all, this youth’s high school experience has been very busy and focused on service to others, and epitomized the Optimist Creed. Stalcup thanked club members for hosting the annual trip to Frankfort, which he plans to attend again this year.
In other business, it was noted this was the last meeting under the presidency of Sam Christy. Next month is 2019–20 President Shari Smith’s first meeting of her year. The assembled group again thanked Christy for a successful year of Optimism.
