  • Stitchers Quilt Guild members gather for April meeting

    The Stitchers Quilt Guild held a showcase of mini quilts during the April meeting. Members brought miniature quilts they made for show and tell. The Stitchers also have a mini group that meets every other month and works on a different miniature pattern each time.

    Mini quilts will be on display at the annual Heart of Kentucky Quilt Show on Sept. 20 and 21 at Pritchard Community Center.

  • Rachel Ritchie accepts donations for Fun for Everyone

    RachelRitchie, a third-grader at Vine Grove Elementary School, accepts checks for $100 from Snappy Tomato, $50 from Once New thrift store and $500 from American Legion Post No. 113 to go toward the Fun for Everyone project. The effort is meant to fund a playground to be used by all children, including those with disabilities.

  • Parents welcome Nora Elizabeth Davis

    Nick and Rita Davis of Louisville announce the birth of a daughter, Nora Elizabeth Davis, on April 8, 2013, at Baptist Hospital East. She weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are James and Barbara Vail of Elizabethtown and paternal grandparents are Dan and Maxine Davis of Louisville.

  • Hannas celebrate 50th anniversary

    Robert and Christa Hanna of Austin, Texas, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary May 25, 2013.

    They were married May 25, 1963, in Glendale.

    Mr. Hanna served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, was president of Austin Science Associates and worked for LCRA.

    They have a daughter, Diana, of Austin; and two grandchildren.

    Dennis and Mary Rose Dvorjak of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their son, Daniel Christopher Dvorjak, to Daniela Garcia Penha Sarti, daughter of Luiz C. and Tanya Penha Sarti of Sao Paolo, Brazil.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Sao Paolo State University and is a Ph.D candidate in crop science at the University of Kentucky.

    The prospective groom is a graduate of John Hardin High School and the University of Kentucky ROTC program. He is a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in Vilseck, Germany.

    Kristin Genevieve McCown of Radcliff and Jacob Lee Spradlin of Goose Creek, S.C., along with their families, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Gary and Linda McCown of Radcliff. She is a 2008 graduate of North Hardin High School.

    The prospective groom is the son of Rodney and Hilda Spradlin of Smiths Grove and Sherice and David Mobley of Horse Cave. He is a 2006 graduate of Hart County High School and is a Mineman 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy.

    The children of Talina Lee Patterson and Tommy Gordon Tedder, both of Buffalo, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their parents.

    The wedding is at 4 p.m. June 1, 2013, behind Tedder’s barn with a reception to follow in the backyard of the home of Allison and Keith Blair.
