• Browns celebrate 50th anniversary

    Robert W. and Linda J. Henderson Brown of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 50th anniversary Nov. 29, 2014, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.
    They were married Nov. 14, 1964, at Vinson Memorial Christian Church.
    They have three children, Lisa Vaught of Glasgow, David Brown of Bardstown and Jimmy Brown of Sellersburg, Indiana; and seven grandchildren.

    KENTUCKY WEATHER.   Leaves are everywhere and they are still falling. When I was little I would go to aunt Stacey’s house and she’d rake and pile the leaves and then I’d jump in. It was so much fun. Oh the good times she and I shared on the farm.

    Jeanne Palmer Mays of Bowling Green, formerly of Elizabethtown, celebrated her 90th birthday with a reception given by her children, Carol, Barbara and Kevin and their families at the home of her son and family in Bowling Green.

    The private ceremony included their parents, Terry and Karen Herbert and Robert and Ardell Elmore; their daughter, Lily; and the groom’s sister, Heather Elmore.

    Phillip and Shirley Sallee of Cecilia celebrated their 50th anniversary Nov. 15, 2014.
    They were married Nov. 15, 1964, at Needham Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Eastview by Brother Archie Nottingham.
    They raised five children, Ronnie, Earl, Elizabeth Bird, Dwight and Carlus. They also have 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

  • Briggs named Lions Club student of the month

    Past president Lion Gary Miles introduces the CHHS student of the month, Elizabeth Briggs, at the Elizabethtown Lions Club meeting Sept. 16. Elizabeth has a 4.0 GPA and 30 SAT score. Upon graduating she plans to attend the University of Kentucky. Her major is yet to be decided. Accompanying her were family members Lori Carter, Jay Briggs, Keith Carter and Joshua Briggs.
