    The bride-to-be is a 2009 graduate of Bullitt Central High School.

    The prospective groom is a 2005 graduate of John Hardin High School and attended Sullivan University. He is employed at Wilson Manufacturing and Design in Cecilia.

    Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10281 members recently baked cookies and made candy, then packaged the items into boxes to go overseas to the 3rd ESC, the Auxiliary’s adopted military unit.

    Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10281 Commander Butch Ferrell and Ladies Auxiliary President Carol Hill present checks to Donna Betson, Kentucky Patriots chairman, on behalf of Wreaths Across America to help the Kentucky Patriots purchase the wreaths to place on each of the nearly 2,500 graves at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central.

    PRINCE. Air Force Airman Ahkeem R. Prince graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2012 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School in Goldsboro, N.C., he is the son of Frances Prince Waynesville, Mo., and Larry Prince of Radcliff.

    JEWELL. Army Pvt. Brandon R. Jewell has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. A 2012 graduate of LaRue County High School, he is the son of Lisa Jewell of Raywick.

  • Library receives books written in Braille

    Two new books, written in Braille, recently were presented to the Hardin County Public Library. “Looking Out for Sarah” was given in honor of Brooke Berger and “Someplace Special” in memory of Jordan Berger. A friend, who recently had toured the American Printing House for the Blind, purchased the books for the girls.   • Christmas week was filled with fun at Warm Blessings

Christmas treats were passed out to everyone. Linda Funk, the saint of Warm Blessings, who was behind the camera lens, was pleased to see everyone full of good cheer.

  • Taylor celebrates 103rd birthday

    Alma Dora Taylor of Hodgenville will celebrate her 103rd birthday during Bingo at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2013, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. 717 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville.

    She was born Jan. 3, 1910, and is a resident of Signature Healthcare of Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville.

    She has a daughter, Marilyn McLane of Elizabethtown.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend the celebration.
