    Kevin and Charlotte Vittitow of New Haven announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Natalie Deanne Vittitow, to Matthew Boone Spalding, son of Julie and Keith Higdon of Boston, Ky., and Matt Spalding of Bardstown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Nelson County High School and graduated from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in finance. She plans to graduate in December from Eastern Kentucky University with a Master in Business Administration. She is a financial analyst at Humana.

  • Haycrafts announce birth of Jack Calder

    Abby, Evan and Wyat Haycraft announce the birth of their brother, Jack Calder, on Oct. 10, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Parents are Chad and Beth Haycraft of Clarkson.

    Grandparents are Phillip and Anita Haycraft and Buddy and Janeice Riggs, all of Clarkson.

    Great-grandparents are Ronnie Fields and Elmer Riggs, both of Upton, and Delmer and Jean Haycraft of Leitchfield.

  • Taylor Brooke announces birth of Lexie Shaylyn Clemons

    Taylor Brooke Clemons of Sonora announces the birth of a sister, Lexie Shaylyn Clemons, on Oct. 13, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Parents are Travis and Candace Clemons of Sonora.

    Grandparents are Perry and Sheena Clemons of Clarkson, Wendell Vinson of White Mills and Angela and William Anderson of Sonora.

    Great-grandparents are Anna Mae Clemons and Pauline Logsdon, both of Clarkson, Vernon and Lena Vinson of Elizabethtown and Charles and Beverly Jaggers of Sonora.

  • Whitleys celebrate 50th anniversary

    Donald and Gwendolyn Kelly Whitley of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 1, 2012, at New Hope Community Church, 34 Dee St., Elizabethtown.

    They were married Dec. 2, 1962, at Kerr Memorial United Methodist Church in Bowling Green by the Rev. Wilbur Whitley.

    Mr. Whitley is a retired right of way supervisor for the Kentucky Highway Department. Mrs. Whitley is a retired district officer supervisor for General Telephone.

  • Boatright returns from deployment

    BOATRIGHT. Navy Airman Gregory A. Boatright, a 2003 graduate of Bluegrass Military Academy at Fort Knox, assigned to the Enterprise Carrier Strike Group recently arrived in Norfolk, Va., following a seven-and-a-half-month deployment supporting operations in the Mediterranean and the Arabian Seas. Boatright joined the Navy in June 2010.

  • Fowler returns from deployment

    FOWLER. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Patrica R. Fowler, a 1988 graduate of North Hardin High School, assigned to the Enterprise Carrier Strike Group recently arrived in Norfolk, Va, following a seven-and-a-half-month deployment supporting operations in the Mediterranean and the Arabian Seas. Fowler joined the Navy in October 2009.

  • Lewis graduates from basic training

    LEWIS. Army Reserve Pfc. Sterling M. Lewis has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2011 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of Kevin and Debra Lewis of Radcliff.

  • Vietnam Veterans of America gather for banquet

    The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1051, Gold Vault Chapter held its second annual banquet Nov. 2 in the culinary arts department of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. A meal was enjoyed by members and guests.

  • Rolling Thunder members participate in Veterans Day program

    Meade County High School held its 10th annual Veterans Day program Nov. 9 in the gym. Sixteen hundred students students were in attendance standing and clapping to show their appreciation for veterans. The culinary arts department provided snacks.
