  • Elizabethtown Junior Woman’s Club members participate in fall activities

    The Elizabethtown Junior Woman’s Club’s fall activities have kept members busy. The EJWC 2nd Annual Charity Cocktail raised $1,200 to support the Addison Jo Blair Foundation and Flaget Cancer Center. Charity attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, music, door prizes and mingling. The silent auction also was a big hit. Club members appreciate everyone who supported the events and for donations from local and surrounding businesses.

  • Weaver speaks at NARFE meeting

    Elizabethtown Chapter 1050 of National Active and Retired Federal Employees recently met at Nolin RECC. 

    Guest speaker, Retired Col. Mike Weaver presented information about the World War II barracks renovation project, initiated at Fort Knox to restore one of the last original remaining barracks left standing from the WWII era.

  • Vine Grove Woman’s Club appreciates support for ‘Breakfast with Mrs. Claus’

    On Dec. 3, the Vine Grove Woman’s Club held its annual “Breakfast with Mrs. Claus” in conjunction with Dickens of a Christmas. This is our annual fundraiser for the Vine Grove Woman’s Club scholarship fund that goes to a local student in the northern end of the county.

    The Vine Grove Woman’s Club would like to thank the city of Vine Grove, Hardin County Schools, Mayor Blake Proffitt, Magistrate Garry King, Councilwoman Kathy Cisco, Wilson Muir Bank and Linda Buchanan.

  • FOP Bruce Tabor Memorial Lodge No. 40 appreciates Shop With a Cop support

    The members of the Fraternal Order of Police, Bruce Tabor Memorial Lodge No. 40, would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for donations to the Shop With A Cop program, which was held Dec. 13 at Walmart in Elizabethtown. These donations provided 269 children from Hardin County with the necessary items to help make these children’s Christmas a little brighter.

  • Goldenrod Homemakers has November meeting

    On Nov. 13, the Goldenrod Homemakers met for the monthly meeting at the Hardin County Extension Office. The lesson was, “Travel Across the U.S. with Healthy Living.” Lesson leader was Nadine Bush.

    The club had a potluck meal with Sue Logsdon as hostess.

    The annual Christmas party was planned for Dec. 11 at First Baptist Church of Eastview with Judy Sandfer as hostess.

  • Large celebrates 75th birthday

    William Large of Elizabethtown will celebrate his 75th birthday today, Jan. 10, 2013, with an open house at his home.

    A native of Flatwood, he retired from the Army after 21 years of service and retired from civil service after 30 years. He is married to Ingrid Large.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend the open house.

  • Parents welcome Aiden Tyler Biscaro

    Arielle Biscaro and Adam Redmon of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Aiden Tyler Biscaro, on Dec. 25, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds and was 19.5 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Dawn Nordstrom-Biscaro of Elizabethtown and David Biscaro of Radcliff.

    Paternal grandparents are Carol Cox of Elizabethtown and Keith and Sandy Redmon of Louisville.

  • Welsey Hilltop Seniors gather for annual Thanksgiving lunch

    On Nov. 15, Wesley Hilltop Seniors had its annual Thanksgiving lunch. Club membes voted to do potluck with Kroger cooking the meats.

    Games were played and everyone enjoyed the day.
