  • Crutchers announce birth of daughter

    Shane and Keri Crutcher of Rineyville announce the birth of a daughter, Kieran Maris Crutcher, on May 27, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 19 inches long.

    She has a brother, Cooper.

    Maternal grandparents are Larry and Julie Riggs of Vine Grove and Gary and Denise Mennemeyer of New Albany, Ind.; paternal grandarents are Debbie and John Stiles of Owensboro and Jack and Rhonda Crutcher of Rineyville; great-grandparents are Vance Miller of Sellersburg, Ind., and Charles and Imogene Carroll of Elizabethtown.

    Nancy Meekins and Kevin Turner, both of Eastview, were married Aug. 13, 2011, at Mulberry Chapel in Elizabethtown.

    The bride is the daughter of the late Lue Rhaney and Nicole Rhaney of Radcliff.

    The bride was given in marriage by her son, Sebastien Meekins.

    The flower girl was the groom’s daughter, Kristin Turner.

    Best man was the groom’s son, Cody Turner.

    The couple reside in Eastview.

  • Joneses celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

    Pastor O.C. Sr. and Lougusta Wordlaw-Jones of Vine Grove will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an eight-day getaway.

    They were married Sept. 2, 1961, at Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago by the late Rev. Lewis Bodie.

    The Rev. Jones is retired from the U.S. Army and is founding pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Radcliff.

    Mrs. Jones is retired from Hardin County Schools and is involved in the church ministry and civic organizations.

  • Glenn graduates basic training

    GLENN. Army Pvt. Natasha N. Glenn has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. A 2002 graduate of David L. Brown Christian Academy in Vine Grove, she is the daughter of Linda Brown of Radcliff and Gerry Glenn of Elizabethtown.

  • Zonta Club plans charity golf scramble

    The Zonta Club of Elizabethtown will sponsor a charity golf scramble Sept. 18 to raise money for SpringHaven, the local domestic violence shelter. Tee time is 2 p.m. at Pine Valley Golf Course in Elizabethtown. Check-in and registration begins at 1 p.m.

    The $60 registration fee will cover a light meal and all participants receive a gift bag. Prizes will be presented to the top teams and players. The club also is seeking hole sponsors and community donations.

  • Hardin County Fair Flower Show is a success

    The Garden Club of Elizabethtown is proud of the success of the recent Hardin County Fair Flower Show. People of all ages enjoy the flower show, and people of all ages participate by enter-ing. This is an example of the spirit of our citizens for the support of the Hardin County Fair.
    Fifty-eight categories were available and ap-proximately 150 entries were made. The largest category was the “One Stem Day Lily” with 11 entries. Ribbons and prize money made this rewarding for the participants.
