    PRICE. Army National Guard Pvt. Zachari D. Price has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. A 2010 graduate of Fort Knox High School, he is the son of Sabrina Oliver and stepson of Damon Oliver, both of Jacksonville.

    GARRETT. Army Pvt. Kevin Garrett has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. A 2012 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of David Garrett of Butte, Mont.

  • Nathan graduates from military chaplain training course

    NATHAN. Army Reserve Private 1st Class Lloyd M. Nathan Jr. has graduated from the Chaplain Assistant Advanced Individual Training course at the Chaplain School at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

    Nathan is the son of Cassandra and Lloyd Nathan Sr. of Fort Knox.

    He is a 2012 graduate of Fort Knox High School.

  • Gold Vault Chapter 1051 VVA members gather for meeting

    Members of the Gold Vault Chapter 1051, Vietnam Veterans of America meet once a month to plan activities in support of the community. Activities during the month include picking up litter along Veterans Way in Elizabethtown, helping Warm Blessings stock supplies for those in need, advise veterans filing claims, working with the Wounded Warrior Program and more.

    Veteran organizations team up with each other to organize events for the public. They participate in parades, ceremonies and set up booths for veterans and the public for organized events.

    The Kentucky Public Retirees is a non-profit organization of retired Kentucky government employees whose mission is to have input into protecting their retirement future.The Lincoln Trail Chapter traveled to Cave City on Oct. 14 and had a lunch meeting at Watermill Restaurant.

    State Rep. Jimmie Lee spoke about redistricting and the Affordable Care Act and the Sept. 9 club meeting at Ryans.

    The Lincoln Trail Chapter of KPR meets at 11:30 a.m. the second Monday of each month at Ryans.

    Hardin County Jailer Danny Allen conducts the Haycraft Family Association’s 27th annual benefit auction Oct. 12 at Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown.

  • EHLRTA members gather for meeting

    State Sen. Dennis Parrett spoke to members of the Elizabethtown Hardin LaRue Retired Teachers Association at a recent meeting. Introduced by Jimmie Dee Kelley, Parrett expressed appreciation to local teachers who guided his own education experiences; some of those teachers were in the audience.

    Parrett talked about his experiences in the General Assembly, discussed major issues facing the 2014 session and answered questions regarding concerns for public education the KTRS.
