Starr and Sherry Adams of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 15, 2011.

They were married Oct. 15, 1961, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cooks Mills, Ill.

They have two children, Eric Adams of Elizabethtown and Wendy Dykes of Columbia; and nine grandchildren.

Jimmy and Marie Uzzell will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house given by their children and grandchildren from 2 to 4 p.m., Oct. 15, 2011, at College Heights United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown.

They were married Oct. 15, 1961, by the Rev. A.J. Irvin at Glenn’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Spring Hill, Tenn.

They are members of College Heights United Methodist Church.

All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

The couple request no gifts.

Winners in the age 11 and under category, first place Casey Priddy, second place Savannah Sheyenne Rose and third place Kelly Logsdon; age 12 to 17 winners were: first place Michalea Rock and  second place was the duo of Ashley Dorsey and Kate Carnes; age 18 and over, first place tie with Alex Nunn and Grant Miller, second place was Clint Abell and third place was Bridgett Nealy. Overall contest winner and winner of $100 was Grant Miller.

Johnny and Edith Lee, formerly of Elizabethtown, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 4, 2011, at their home in Melbourne, Fla.

They were married Oct. 4, 1951, by Dr. L.E. Martin in the pastor’s home in Elizabethtown.

Mr. Lee retired from the transportation business.

Mrs. Lee is a retired secretary who worked in Elizabethtown for an accounting firm for many years.

They have three children, 10 grandchildren and are expecting their 11th grandchild in October.
