  • Hensons celebrate 50th anniversary

    Kenneth and Sandra Taylor Henson of Cecilia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a stay at Moors Resort with their children’s families.

    They were married June 7, 1963, at Olive Baptist Church with Brother Richard Edmiston officiating.

    Mr. and Mrs. Henson are retired and enjoy traveling.

    They have four children, Vicki Basham of Cecilia and Annita Cook, Tracy Henson and Marty Henson, all of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

    CHURCH NEWS. First Baptist Church of Eastview will have vacation Bible school from 6 to 9 p.m. July 10 through 12. Everyone is welcome. The church will have exciting things going on and a lot more details to come.

    Dr. Dorine Geeslin will celebrate her 95th birthday with a reception from 10 to 11:30 a.m. June 22 at Helmwood Healthcare patio, 106 Diecks Drive, Elizabethtown.

    All friends and relatives are invited to join her. Please, cards only, no gifts.

    Mike and Shelia Lewis of Elizabethtown announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Lewis of Lexington, to Nathan Bay of Lexington, son of Ken and Sharon Bay of Pickerington, Ohio.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Transylvania University and is a mortgage loan originator.

    The prospective groom is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and is a Kentucky Colonel. He also is a mortgage loan originator.

    The wedding is at 4 p.m. June 23, 2013, in Key West, Fla. A reception will follow this summer in Lexington.

    I absolutely love this time of year. There are so many wonderful events happening, my son is home from school, the weather has been perfect, and vacation Bible school is coming. What more could you want? Get out and take advantage of all the fun things that are going on in all of our communities.

    The General Federation of Woman’s Club members have worked all year to raise money for contributions to community organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana and Youth Theatre of Hardin County.

  • Three Museum Row attractions offer free admission to military families

    Three of Louisville’s “Museum Row on Main” attractions are participating in Blue Star Museums, a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 1,500 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families through Labor Day.
