• Cheerleaders receive academic scholarships

    Five senior cheerleaders recently were awarded the KAPOS Libby Burr Leadership and Academic scholarship at the 5th Region KHSAA Cheerleading Competition.   • Seniors gather for Christmas lunch

    Seniors from the Hardin County Senior Center in Elizabethtown enjoy a Christmas potluck lunch in December. They also played bingo and cards.

  • Terrance Life achieves rank of Eagle Scout

    Troop 221 in Elizabethtown awarded Terrance Life, son of Darin and Traci Life, his Eagle Scout award Jan. 19, at College Heights United Methodist Church. He was one of 11 scouts from Troop 221 to achieve the rank of Eagle in 2012. His Eagle project, completed in September 2012, was the repair and refinishing of the deck on the Trucker’s Chapel in Glendale. He successfully completed his Eagle Board of Review on Oct. 29.

  • Hofstra named chairman of Central Kentucky Tea Party Patriots

    Scott Hofstra of Vine Grove is the new chairman of the Central Kentucky Tea Party Patriots.

    He follows Bobby Alexander, who served more than three years as leader of the non-partisan public advocacy group based in Hardin County.

    Other officers are George Pypiak, vice chairman; Joyce Chumbley and Darlene Bohannan, secretaries; and Yvonne Lauterback, treasurer.

    The organization meets monthly, usually on the first Tuesday, at Nolin RECC in Elizabethtown.

  • Wesley Hilltop seniors gather for potluck

    On Dec. 20, Wesley Hilltop seniors had their regular potluck meal.

    Club members voted to give $100 to Memorial Methodist Church and $100 to Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen, something the club has been doing for the past few years. Randall Clauson will deliver the checks.
