  • Rotary members learn history of bourbon

    Guest of Rotarian Neil Atcher at a recent Radcliff Rotary Club meeting was Eric Gregory, president of the Kentucky Distiller’s Association and his executive assistant Brittany Dowell. Gregory gave the club a presentation on the history of the Bourbon Industry in Kentucky with an overview of the current state of affairs. Burbon is “America’s Official Native Spirit,” a leading export and a growing symbol of Kentucky craftsmanship and tradition.   • Radcliff Woman’s Club collects Suitcases for Kids

    The Radcliff Woman’s Club has been conducting a “Suitcases for Kids” project since August of 2010 when Sherry Kelley informed the club that often times children involved with the Child Protective Agency have no decent container to put their belongings when they are taken from their homes and placed in a more suitable environment. As many as 200 children have been transitioned locally, Kelley told the group.

    Dozens of suitcases and travel bags were brought to the club meeting on Aug. 8 - making the total contribution count reach more than 100.

    The groom is the son of Chris and Karen Coons of Vine Grove.

    Maid of honor was Angela McQuage; bridesmaids were Kayla Larrison, Stephanie Effinger and Deborah Engelbrecht; and flower girl was Aeryn Greenwell.

    Best man was Logan Coons; and groomsman was Chris Coons.

    The couple reside in Lexington.
