    What beautiful weather we have been having lately, the light chill of the fall weather is in the air, the sun has been shining. Such a beautiful time to be outside completing those fall chores. One thing I am going to miss is the fresh vegetables from the garden, though we didn’t have a garden this year, son Wayne has been keeping us supplied.

  • MOWW wins top honors

    The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars held its monthly meeting Sept. 17, at its clubhouse on Fort Knox.

    The Chapter annually competes for several awards and recognitions at the national level. The winners are recognized at the MOWW National Convention with the Fort Knox Chapter receiving high praise for all of the patriotic and veteran oriented events and youth education programs conducted over the previous chapter year. As a result, Fort Knox was named the best chapter in the small class category for the eighth consecutive year.

    Olive McMillen of Elizabethtown will celebrate her 95th birthday today, Oct. 4, 2013.

    She was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Elizabethtown.

    She has one son, Leo McMillen of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
