    Joseph and Barbara Hardesty of Bardstown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Ashley Hardesty of Elizabethtown, to Robbie Claggett II of Elizabethtown, son of Karen Claggett of Elizabethtown and Robbie Claggett of Eastview.

    The bride-to-be is a 2010 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is employed at Kentucky Neighborhood Bank.

    The prospective groom is a 2007 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is a manager at GNC in St. Matthews.

  • Potted Few Garden Club members gather for meeting

    The Fort Knox Potted Few Garden Club recently met at the Elizabethtown home of Bonnie Gunter with cohost Bonnie Lush.

    The program was “Gardening with Youth,” given by Hardin County Extension Agent Amy Aldenderfer. She demonstrated how to teach children to create seed bombs for planting in bare areas. She suggested ways to encourage children to become involved in planting vegetables as well as flowers. She also gave instructions on preparing seedlings for spring planting and how to be successful with raised gardens.

    The Elizabethtown Junior Woman’s Club dedicates and donates children’s books to the Hardin County Public Library when a member has a child. Elizabethtown Junior Woman’s Club President Leanna Milby with Club Secretary Eileen Townsend and son, Caleb.

    Jonathan and Cathy Riggs of Clarkson announce the birth of a daughter, Layna Grace Riggs, on Dec. 26, 2012. She weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce and was 19 inches long.

    She has three sisters, Laurel, Leanne and Lila; and a brother, Luke.

    Grandparents are William Roger and Patty Higdon of Mount Washington and Hubert and Janice Riggs of Clarkson.

She is employed by Recovery Works of Elizabethtown, formerly Stepworks Addiction Treatment.
