  • Parents welcome Sara Brylee

    Bryan and Misty Heath of Rineyville announce the birth of a daughter, Sara Brylee Heath, on May 30, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Brothers are Hunter, Brandon and Logan, all of Rineyville.

    Grandparents are Michael and Daphne Osborne of Rineyville and Donald and Ruth Heath of Elizabethtown.

  • Thank you to Hardin County Chamber

    Just wanted to say a big thank you to the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce and to all who made this years second annual “Cruisin' the Heartland” such a great event. I volunteer with Kosair Charities and had a booth selling raffle tickets to win a car, with all proceeds going in to children’s transplant and research. What a super support the charity got from the people of Elizabethtown/Hardin County who attended the show! This is an awesome event, one I hope will continue to grow bigger and bigger each year!

  • Stitchers Quilt Guild donates lap quilts to veterans hospital

    Members of the Stitchers Quilt Guild show some of the lap quilts that will be donated to men and women staying at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville. Making veterans lap quilts was what the members choose as their charity project this year. The quilts will be on display at the annual Heartland of Kentucky Quilt Show on Sept. 23 and 24 at Pritchard Community Center. Also on display will be the best of show quilt from the Hardin County Fair made by Sherman Smith. This was the first time Sherman entered a quilt in the fair.

  • HMH awards scholarships to local students

    Hardin Memorial Hospital recently awarded six $1,000 scholarships from the Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Money was raised for the scholarship fund through Masquerade $5 Jewelry Sales and the annual Let Christmas Shine Program. The next $5 Jewelry Sale is Nov. 21 and 22 and lights for the Let Christmas Shine program will be sold during November.

  • Thank you from Hardin County Schools

    At the beginning of each school year, our district holds a family picnic for our staff and their families at the American Legion Park in Elizabethtown. It is a time for us to say thank you to the nearly 2,500 employees who go above and beyond every day to help the more than 14,000 students in our schools succeed.
    Our picnic was another huge success because of the wonderful generosity of our community business partners. I would like to thank the following businesses for their donation of food, drinks and prizes:

  • Kentucky Sheriffs ranch celebrates 36 years

    The Kentucky Sheriff’s Boys & Girls Ranch summer camping program opened June 5 and now is in the last weeks of the 2011 season.
    Session seven began July 17 with campers from Ballard, Bracken, Breckinridge, Hardin, Jefferson, Kenton, Laurel, Marshall, Ohio, Pendleton, Rockcastle, Warren, Webster and Woodford counties.
