  • Fourth annual Senior Q hosted at Helmwood HealthCare Facility

    Wink’s Smokehouse recently held its fourth annual Senior Q at Helm-wood HealthCare Facility in Elizabethtown.
    The team fed residents, staff and all their families a barbecue meal consisting of barbecue pork and chicken. The meats, sauces, green beans and baked beans, rolls and trimmings all were donated by Wink’s Smoke-house and the men of the Presbyterian Church. The HHC facility provided coleslaw, desserts and drinks.

  • Boy Scouts participate in popcorn fundraiser

    Life Acouts Joshua Nightengale and Michael Bentley from Boy Scout Troop 24 in Elizabethtown during annual popcorn sales at the Pilot gas station in Lebanon Junction. Proceeds from popcorn sales are used to pay for summer camp and leadership training attendance for the scouts and to pay for activities that are hosted at the council level.

  • Griendling receives plaque for work on veterans memorial

    Fort Knox Chapter AUSA president Gene Gudenkauf presents a Knox Strong Plaque to Rich Griendling, designer and sculptor at the Sept. 6 executive council meeting in appreciation for his work on the veterans memorial, a reality in the making.

  • MOWW wins national awards

    The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars held its monthly meeting Aug. 16 at its clubhouse on Fort Knox.

    The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of several awards that were won for activities the Fort Knox Chapter had performed during the 2010-11 chapter year.  Col. Christopher Smrt, the Region II commander had been to the MOWW National Convention, where the awards were presented. Col. Smrt added that the national commander and staff had added praise about the activities of the Fort Knox Chapter.
