• Robbins graduates from basic training

    ROBBINS. Air Force Airman Mary C. Robbins graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. Robbins is the daughter of Eileen and Thomas Robbins of Elizabethtown. She is a 2007 graduate of Bradwell Institute in Georgia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga.

  • McClendon-Williams graduates from basic training

    MCCLENDON-WILLIAMS. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jasmine R. McClendon-Williams graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. McClendon-Williams is the granddaughter of AnneMarie Williams of Radcliff and is a 2010 graduate of North Hardin High School.

  • Vine Grove seniors celebrate Thanksgiving

    The Vine Grove senior citizens group Yesterday’s Youth celebrate Thanksgiving with a dinner at the center at Vine Grove City Hall. Those in attendance and had a good time. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month for food, games and socializing and a guest speaker. Everyone is welcome. Pizza will be provided for the January meeting and it is suggested that you bring a salad or dessert to share with the group. For information, call Thelma Willow at 270-877-2312.

  • South Central Bank pledges support to Helping Hand of Hope

    South Central Bank-Hardin County has made a pledge to contribute of $1,500 per year for the next three years for a total of $4,500 to Helping Hand of Hope towards the charitable organizations ongoing capital campaign. The organization is building its new office and the funds raised during the capital campaign will go towards the cost of construction for the new facility.

  • Mingus awarded WKU award

    Cheryl Mingus, recently retired Central Hardin Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, received the Western Kentucky University 2013 Outstanding Family and Consumer Sciences Alumni Award. The award is presented by the Beta Delta Alumni Chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron national honor society. Its purpose is to recognize a graduate of the department who has achieved an outstanding level of professional leadership and success in her field.

    The voice and piano students of Elizabethtown music teacher Mila Nikolic, back row, Kimberly Strange, piano accompanist, Mila Nikolic, teacher, Joel Nason, Alexandria Summers, Alex Greer, William Wilson, Lili Morgan, Josh McKain, announcer, and Bo Cecil, lighting and front row, Tayshawn Nickels, Cheyanne Nickels, Jessica Smallwood, Sarah Katherine Meece, Josie Smallwood and Maia Morgan give a Christmas recital at the Plum Alley Theatre on Dec. 19.

  • Harbin speaks at EHLRTA meeting

    Gary Harbin, executive secretary of the Kentucky Teacher Retirement System was the guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Elizabethtown Hardin LaRue Retired Teachers Association. Harbin discussed the myths surrounding the issues with teachers’ pensions. Members were urged to keep informed and work with the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association as the general assembly convenes in January.
