  • Comer proclaims National Agriculture Week

    Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, second from right, holds his proclamation naming March 17-23 National Agriculture Week in Kentucky.     Lion President James Jeffries presents the Glendale Lions Student of the Month Award to East Hardin Middle School seventh-grader Kaitlin Tucker.Kaitlin is the daughter of Lora Tucker and stepdaughter of David Day of Elizabethtown. The club is making plans for its annual pancake breakfast May 18.

  • EHLRTA enjoy mini concert at March meeting

    The Central Hardin Choral Department received a standing ovation from Elizabethtown Hardin LaRue Retired Teachers Association members as the singers presented a mini concert at the March 14 meeting. Under the direction of Samantha Taylor, students ended with an inspirational arrangement of “Total Praise.” Kerry Reeves, vice president, introduced the program.

  • Delta Kappa Gamma members gather for March meeting

    Mu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met March 9. Becky Bishop and Kim Shumate, co-chairs of the professional affairs committee, conducted the silent auction of pretty things, which included bunnies, an original painting, candy, scarves, teapots, linens and other items. Donations and bidding provided funds for a grant-in-aid to be given to a high school senior.

    Nora Sweat shared a moment of inspiration reminding members that Easter is a time to share memories, food and family time; however, the real celebration is the resurrection of Christ.

  • Kentucky 4-H Homecoming set for April 20

    The Kentucky 4-H Homecoming, the annual signature event for the Kentucky 4-H Foundation, is at 6 p.m. April 20, at The Hilton Garden Inn in Georgetown.

    This annual event reconnects former 4-Hers with each other, 4-H alumni, as well as with friends, volunteers, and supporters of Kentucky 4-H.

    “The first two 4-H homecomings were huge successes and we expect this year’s event to be even more successful,” said Keith L. Rogers, executive director of the Kentucky 4-H Foundation.

    Roger and Marchitta Lucas of Cecilia and Les-Tom and Anita Sandfer of Stephensburg announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Halea Brooke Lucas of Cecilia and Eddie Dewayne Sandfer of Stephensburg.

    The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Central Hardin High School.

    The prospective groom also is a 2006 graduate of Central Hardin High School.

    The wedding is at 3:30 p.m. March 30, 2013, at Open Valley Baptist Church with a reception to follow at Pritchard Community Center.
