    The groom is the son of Mike and Jane McCarthy of North Platte, Neb.

    The couple reside in Lincoln, Neb.

  • Grandmother announces birth of Conner Tyler Anderson

    Monica Baumgardner of Elizabethtown announces the birth of a grandson, Conner Tyler Anderson, on Sept. 15, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Mother is Jessica Anderson of Elizabethtown.

    Grandfather is Charlie Anderson of Eastview. Great-grandparents are Norma and LeRoy Sherrard of Elizabethtown and Barbara and Charlie Anderson.

  • Senior Republican Women’s Forum presents scholarship to Dean

    The Hardin County Senior Republican Women’s Forum recently presented its annual scholarship to Hyman Dean, a graduate of Fort Knox High School. “This is the first time a young man has been the recipient of the scholarship in our organization’s history and rightfully so,” said Senior Republican Women’s Forum Chairwoman Alice Pelkey during the presentation.

    The Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club met Oct. 1 at the Nolin RECC Building. President Debbie Donnelly presided.

    There were several guests and new members in attendance, Larry and Susan Black, Emily Kaiser, Jean Dudgeon, Susan Stiles, Rose Marie Rocha and Ellen Sexton. Dudgeon was recognized for her World Language Lifetime Award.

  • Vietnam Veterans of America members gather for September meeting

    Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1051, Gold Vault Patriots met Sept. 30.

    New member Jim Smith is the chapter service officer and will attend service officer’s school to qualify for the position.

    James Skaggs is the new sergeant at arms. Greg Lowe and Jim Smith both are new chapter members.

    Rondo Jackson presented a metal laser-cut plaque of the Vietnam Veterans of America to Chapter 1051. The plaque was made by James Etherton and given to Rondo Jackson to present.

    DUNCAN. Air National Guard Airman Shane M. Duncan graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2011 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, he is the son of Craig and Sally Duncan of Elizabethtown.
