    Bart and Tracy Ponder of Radcliff and Ronnie and Carrol Cheatwood of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Jamie Lee Ponder of Radcliff and Christopher Harris Scott Cheatwood of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2011 graduate of Western Kentucky University. She is a teacher at North Bullitt High School.

    The prospective groom is a 2012 graduate of WKU. He is employed at Magnolia Bank.

    The Jacob Van Meter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Dec. 14 at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown with Regent Margaret Martin presiding.

  • Rolling Thunder members gather for December meeting

    Rolling Thunder Inc Kentucky Chapter Four held its monthly membership meeting Dec. 2. Two new members joined,Rick Wright and Jeff Auberry. Suzanne Wright and Angie Auberry were guests. Visiting from another chapter was Richard Lopez. Local visitors Lanny and Larry King spoke of their gratitude to Rolling Thunder for its role in the community and how it has helped individuals and veterans. Junior member Shelby Justice received a patch from her grandfather and club President Jim Justice.

  • Stevensons celebrate 40th anniversary

    Don and Vicki Stevenson of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary today, Dec. 16, 2012.

    They were married Dec. 16, 1972, in Spokane, Wash.

    Mr. Stevenson was raised in Spokane and retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army. Mrs. Stevenson was raised in Seattle and is employed at Seasons of Elegance.

    They have three children, Stacy Stevenson Nichols, Capt. Todd Stevenson and Jessica Stevenson; and seven grandchildren.

    I still can’t grasp the feeling it is almost Christmas, I guess this weather doesn’t indicate that time of year is here. Though I for one have been enjoying the warmer temperatures and beautiful sunshine.

    OUT AND ABOUT. We enjoyed eating lunch with the Modern Woodmen the past week. This month we ate at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I don’t know as yet where the next meeting will be. We enjoy the meal and fellowship with friends.

    Pat and Donetta Eastridge of Sonora announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Brandi Eastridge, to Bo Piper, son of George and Kathy Piper of Sonora.

    The bride-to-be graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in middle grades education. She is a language arts teacher with Hart County Schools.

    The prospective groom attended Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and is employed at Altec Industries.
