    Hello, as always I hope everyone is well. This weather really has been something to deal with. One day it’s warm, then cool, warm then almost hot, cold, fog and rain. What in the world is next? It’s been hard driving the bus with the weather the way it is. The fog really slows us down safety — first and schedule second. So if your bus is a little later, just wait, it will be there.

    David and Kelly Cox of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jessica Cox, to Andrew Williams, son of Gary and Regina Williams of Glendale.

    The bride-to-be graduated from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and Kentucky Dental Academy. She is employed at Elizabethtown Family Dentistry.

    The prospective groom received a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Kentucky University and is employed at Akebono in Elizabethtown.

    The wedding is at 4 p.m. Dec. 22, 2012, at Gilead Baptist Church in Glendale.

       The warmer weather is a nice change from earlier cold days. Rain is in the forecast for several days. Most likely after that passes the temperatures will drop again. Have you gotten your outside decorations up yet? Dad and Jamileeput theirs up Dec. 1.

    SIBLINGS GATHER. The children of the late Alva and Ruth Goodman met for breakfast at Shoneys. They were Wilma Jean Cundiff, ShortieHolbert, Joyce McCamish, Sheila Lucas, Pam Ford and Dwight Goodman.

    The bride is the daughter of Charlie and Sherry Shelton of Hodgenville and Gary and Wanda Brakebill of Radcliff.

    The groom is the son of David and Doris Clark of Owensboro.

    After a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, the couple reside in Owensboro with their sons, Connor and Colton.

    Chapter 1050 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met recently for their quarterly potluck dinner meeting. President Kay Bennett opened the meeting so more than 50 members and guests could enjoy a Thanksgiving feast.

  • Ridlon promoted to captain

    RIDLON. Michael George Ridlon was promoted to U.S. Captain at Bagram, Afghanistan, on Dec. 1. Ridlon is a 2009 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. and a 2005 graduate of John Hardin High School.

    His parents, Bill and Pam Ridlon, live in Elizabethtown and work at Fort Knox. Capt. Ridlon is deployed to Afghanistan with the 548th CSSB, from Fort Drum, N.Y.

  • Hoernke earns title of Marine

    Marine Corps Pvt. 1st Class Jessica D. Hoernke, daughter of Karen and Douglas Hoernke of Rineyville recently earned the title of U.S. Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C.

    Hoernke is a 2012 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.
