  • Scouts camp out at Saunders Springs

    Webelos Scouts from Pack 24, chartered by Longview United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, participated in a weekend campout at Saunders Springs in November. Along with earning several activity badges, they also participated in a service project and built a bridge and enhanced 150 feet of trail.

  • Boatright attends inactivation of USS Enterprise

    BOATRIGHT. Navy Airman Gregory A. Boatright, a 2003 graduate of Bluegrass Military Academy at Fort Knox, along with nearly 12,000 past and current crewmembers, family and friends attended the inactivation of aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65).

    Enterprise, the world’s first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, recently completed its 25th and final deployment and returned to its homeport of Naval Station Norfolk for a scheduled inactivation, held prior to the ship’s terminal offload program and subsequent decommissioning.

  • Fowler attends inactivation for USS Enterprise

    FOWLER. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Patricia R. Fowler, a 1988 graduate of North Hardin High School, along with nearly 12,000 past and current crewmembers, family and friends attended the inactivation of aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65).

  • Collins graduates from basic training

    COLLINS. Air Force Airman Steve P. Collins graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2008 graduate of Warrensburg Junior Senior High School, he is the son of Brenda Gottlieb of Warrensburg, N.Y., and Roy Collins of Vine Grove.

  • Suenkel enrolls in Army ROTC program

    SUENKEL. Jacob L. Suenkel has enrolled in the Army ROTC, Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, program at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh, Wisc. Upon graduation and completion of ROTC military science courses at the host university, the cadet receives a bachelor’s degree and a commission of second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Suenkel is a 2011 graduate of Fort Knox High School.

  • Owens graduates from recruit training

    OWENS. Marine Corps Pvt. Nathyn K. Owens, son of William S. Owens of Elizabethtown, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.

  • Chapman graduates from recruit training

    CHAPMAN. Marine Corps Pfc. Cameron L. Chapman, son of Kathleen G. and Russell E. Chapman of Sonora, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C. Chapman is a 2012 graduate of Central Hardin High School.

  • Commitment House celebrates third graduation and first anniversary

    On Nov. 14, The Commitment House LLC Sober Living Home for Men celebrated its third graduation class and first year anniversary. From left, Shawn Hayes, graduate, Dennis Barnett, owner and founder, and Paul Anderson, graduate. The Commitment House is a certified recovery dynamics facility empowering men with the knowledge and strength to live a clean and sober lifestyle.

  • Mu Chapter members gather for meeting

    Diane McCamish opened the Mu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International with thoughts of thanksgiving for blessings of family and friends. She challenged members to give thanks in all situations, even when lives are filled with challenges.

    President Lois Pierce presided over the business meeting, where the revised standing rules were approved. Susan Cross, Ramona Jeffries, Sue Story and Shelia Wilkinson were thanked for their work in accomplishing this goal early in the biennium.
