    Kirk and Heather Brown of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Brody Evan Corbit Brown, on Feb. 15, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    He has two brothers, Connor and Noah Brown.

    Maternal grandparents are Jerry and Sherry Corbit of Elizabethtown; and paternal grandparents are Vicki Brown of Elizabethtown and the late Bob Brown.

    Maternal great-grandfather is Roy Hilton of Elizabethtown.

    Well school is back in session and we need to watch for those yellow school buses and the children who are loading and unloading. What precious cargo those drivers take responsibility for; I admire their courage.

  • Walker promoted to Brig. Gen. during a Family First ceremony

    The 3d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and senior leadership came out to recognize Brig. Gen. Flem Bowen “Donnie” Walker Jr., commanding general of the 3d ESC, for his promotion to brigadier general at a ceremony Aug. 2 at the Saber and Quill.

  • Heartland Festival in the Park Baby Contest set for Aug. 23

    The Heartland Festival in the Park’s Baby Contest is Aug. 23 at Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown. Baby contests are open to boys and girls ages birth to not yet 5 years old.

  • Rotary, Rotaract Clubs complete service project at Mission Hope for Kids

    On July 6, the Hardin County AM Rotary Club and the Rotaract Club of Greater Hardin County volunteered at Mission Hope for Kids in Elizabethtown to design and create a new learning center classroom that will be used by children in kindergarten through 12th grade. The service clubs donated its time and money to paint, clean and organize the room, as well as purchased school supplies such as posters, books, bean bag chairs and other resources for the classroom. David Gibson of Gibson’s Painting volunteered his time and effort to assist with the service project.

  • Coopers support Helping Hand of Hope

    Helping Hand of Hope Executive Director David Dozer accepts a significant donation to the new building fund from Mr. & Mrs. Bob Cooper, who have pledged their continued support. The Coopers have been supporters for more than 23 years. Mr. Cooper was head of the finance committee for North Hardin Hope when it raised funds to build its existing building in Radcliff. He served on the board of directors for North Hardin Hope and remains supportive of the mission. To donate, contact David Dozer, 270-769-3092.

  • Meyers prepares Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown’s budget

    Judy Meyer, newly elected treasurer of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs of Elizabethtown, works on the upcoming year’s budget. After two members passed away and three did not renew their membership for various reasons, there were six new members and the club has not only maintained its membership of 88 members, but exceeded it to 89 members.
