  • Hall earns teaching excellence award

     

    Dr. Ramona Jordan Hall, associate professor of education at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla., has been selected as the recipient of the 2012-13 Harold and Elizabeth Hackler Teaching Excellence Award. 

  • Scouts attend Merit Badge University

    On Feb 23, Boy Scout Troop 221 attended Merit Badge University in Shepherdsville. Fifteen scouts participated in the all-day event and earned 30 merit badges. Merit Badge University was attended by more than 1,200 scouts from three states. Troop 221 meets Monday nights at College Heights United Methodist Church and invites all prospective scouts to visit.

  • Wellses celebrate 50th anniversary

    William and Gerda Wolf Wells of Radcliff will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 2, 2013.

    They were married March 2, 1963, in Bad Windsheim, West Germany.

    Mr. Wells is retired and is a protestant.

    Mrs. Wells is a housewife and also is a protestant.

    They have three sons, Michael Wells of Radcliff, William Wells Jr. of Cecilia and Steven Wells of Irvington; and eight grandchildren.

  • Addison Jo Blair Foundation, Central Hardin work together to help kids with cancer

    On Jan. 4, Central Hardin High School presented a donation of more than $4,000 to the Addison Jo Blair Foundation after a school-wide fundraiser was conducted to raise funds for children with cancer. The Addison Jo Blair Foundation appreciates everyone who donated and took part in the fundraising efforts.

  • Johnsons celebrate 60th anniversary

    Randell and Shirley Johnson of Magnolia celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Feb. 17, 2013, with their family.

    They were married on Mr. Johnson’s birthday by the Rev. Manley Towles in Jonesville.

    Mr. Johnson retired from General Electric after more than 35 years of service. He had a 15-year career in real estate.

    Mrs. Johnson also worked at General Electric.

    In 1982, they moved from Louisville back home to the Walters family farm near Magnolia.

    They have three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    KENTUCKY WEATHER. It’s still mixed up, cold one day and warm the next. Making it hard on the allergies already. Also, I hear the flu still is hanging around. I had my shot and so far I’ve been good.

    I’ve noticed spring flowers are popping up through the ground out at dad’s house. That’s usually a sign that warmer days soon are ahead.
