  • Dirkx returns from deployment to Afghanistan

    DIRKX. Army Specialist Kyle S Dirkx has returned to the United States after being deployed to forward operating base MasumGhar in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Dirkx is an Infantryman and fire team leader stationed at Ft Lewis, WA. He has served over 4 years in the Army, with 2 deployments to Afghanistan. He is a 2006 graduate of North Hardin High School. He is the son of Steven Dirkx and Kathryn Dirkx of Radcliff.

  • Isaacs assigned to local Air Force Recruiting Office

    Staff Sgt. Anastacia Isaacs has been assigned to the Air Force Recruiting Office, 143 A Towne Drive in Elizabethtown.

    As a recruiter, Isaacs is responsible for recruiting qualified people for the Air Force in Green, Hardin, Grayson, Taylor, Breckinridge and Nelson counties.

  • North Hardin Lions support Helping Hand of Hope

    Because of the generosity of the North Hardin Lions Club, Helping Hand of Hope was able to help many Hardin County children enjoy a merry Christmas. In addition to the club donation, members also adopted 15 angels from the tree. Pictured are Kelly Copas, Lions Club president, and Carolyn Culver of Helping Hand of Hope.

  • Waddells welcome Archer Keith

    Brandon and Stephanie Waddell announce the birth of a son, Archer Keith Waddell, on Dec. 12, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds 1½ ounces and was 20½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Larry and Rhondalyn Waddell of Elizabethtown and Michael and Carole Cowan of Morganfield.

    Great-grandparents are Mary Edward Brown of Elizabethtown and Bob and Pat Cowan and Marietta Clements, all of Morganfield.

  • Little honored by Alpha Phi Alpha

    Willie Little was honored for his 50 years of membership and community service with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

  • Brooklyn’s benefit concert raises $6,000

    Dec. 19 brought neighbors, family, coworkers and the community together at Pritchard Community Center to show support for 14-month-old Brooklyn Disselkamp. A benefit concert featuring The Brian Young Band helped raise funds for Brooklyn’s fight against Neuroblastoma cancer.

  • Scouts provide holiday cheer at Atria

    Boy Scouts from Troop 221 from Elizabethtown recently spread holiday cheer to local senior citizens at Atria Assisted Living in Elizabethtown. Scouts sang Christmas carols, exchanged handmade Christmas cards and played bingo with residents. Pictured are Ben Pennington, Grayson Kirkman, Keaghn Kirkman, Brayden Berving, Braxton Kirkman, Willie Lyons, Josh Gillman, Eagle Scouts Ben West, Terrance Life, Mitchell Kirkman and John Nichols.   • Scouts support veterans wreath ceremony

    On Dec. 15, local Girl and Boy Scouts provided support to the Kentucky Veterans-Cemetery-Central in Radcliff to honor veterans laid to rest with wreaths as part of the national “Wreaths Across America.” Pictured are Senior Girl Scout Danielle West, Eagle Scout Ben West and Star Scout Brayden Berving. Boy Scouts Ben and Braydon are members of Troop 221 of Elizabethtown.
