  • Merediths celebrate 50th anniversary

    Ralph and Ruth Meredith of Glendale will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 20, 2012, by attending Mass at St. Ambrose Church in Cecilia and a family dinner.

    They were married Oct. 20, 1962, in Leitchfield by the Rev. George Hancock.

    Mrs. Meredith is a homemaker and Mr. Meredith is a farmer. They enjoy being together on their farm and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

    Bob Owsley will celebrate his 80th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 21, 2012, at Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Please, no gifts.

    BIRTHDAY WISH. I would like to wish Max Mendez a happy birthday. He turned the big 7 last week. I heard his cake was Sponge Bob, made by Mama Rita, and it was good.

  • Republican Party of Hardin County hosts Jantzen

    The Republican Party of Hardin County recently hosted Dalton Jantzen, candidate for state preresentative in Meade County’s 27th District, which also has precincts in Hardin County’s West Point and Fort Knox. The Republican Party of Hardin County presented Jantzen with a campaign contribution.

  • Glendale Crossing Festival set for Oct. 20

    The 33rd annual Glendale Crossing Festival will kick off with a parade at 10: a.m. Oct. 20. The parade will remember the town roots in the coming of the L & N railroad in 1859. An engineer with the L & N said it was like his home town of Glendale, Ohio, prompting the name change from Walker’s Station. Retired Railroad men, Bill Poteet and Harry Denser, will serve as grand marshals. These gentlemen from New Albany and Mount Washington have monitored the crossing for more than 30 years of the Crossing Festival.

  • Allegro appreciates support at sixth annual fall festival

    Allegro held its sixth annual fall festival Sept. 28. Despite the weather, we had a great turn out and great fun.

    Residents of Allegro and their families, along with residents of the Elizabethtown area, joined us as we celebrated six years of being a part of the senior living community. Everyone enjoyed the food and entertainment, which included live music, magic tricks and a cake walk.

  • Hay graduates from basic training

     HAY. Air Force Airman Patrick O. Hay graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of John Hardin High School, he is the son of Sylvia and Robert Hay of Rineyville.
